Downloads
The published teaching files contain the same dataset in different formats. Each format supports a different kind of class work. The SQLite file, Excel workbook, and CSV package all reflect the same company, the same business cycles, and the same posted accounting.
Students usually download the package first, learn the company and the process flow, and then choose the format that fits the assignment. That sequence keeps the same business visible across SQL work, Excel review, and table-by-table exports.
Tool Guides
- SQL Guide for opening the SQLite file, running starter queries, and tracing posted accounting in the database
- Excel Guide for workbook-based review, pivots, filters, and reconstruction work from the Excel package
The File Package
| File | What it represents in the learning flow |
|---|---|
CharlesRiver.sqlite | The same dataset in the strongest format for tracing documents, joins, subledgers, and GLEntry in SQL |
CharlesRiver.xlsx | The same dataset in the strongest format for workbook-based review, pivots, charts, and filters |
CharlesRiver_csv.zip | The same dataset in a table-by-table export for external tools and imports |
How the Files Fit the Business Story
The files support the learning path in a clear order:
- the company story explains what kind of business this is
- the process pages explain how sales, design services, purchasing, manufacturing, payroll, and close create the data
- the files become the detailed record of those business cycles
- the analytics pages help students interpret what those cycles mean
Next Steps
